SoundMaps, For Ensemble and Tape, 2014
"Sound-maps", for ensemble and tape (7/2014) was composed for the project "Living Museums" in Nicosia, Cyprus, and performed in Cyprus Museum, Musica Sacra Maastricht and Korzo Den Haag.
The piece deals with the idea of the translation and reinterpretation of sonic space, through field recordings, graphic score and four players.
I chose the sonic space for mapping and recording outside of the Cyprus museum, in-between a road, a digging site and some trees. I started my recording, and at the same time I made the sound mapping. After seven minutes, when I finished my sketch I stopped the recording, and by that I determined the duration of the piece. The piece is as long as the recording, and as long as the time it took me to map the sounds.
musicians: Marianna Soroka, Alfonso Salar Ruiz - Pecussion, Erika Bordon - Violin, Yael Levy - Flute.
